Oh That Smell... recently I got a call from a client who had a musty smell coming from the closet of her master bedroom closet. She had complained to her landlord about the smell and he noted that the previous tenent had kept there cat box in there and that it must be from that. He had the carpet cleaned, and the door was closed, locking in the moisture.

The owner could not even go into the closet because of the smell and she was afraid that it was mold and did not want to breath it. She called me to do an air test, which I did. She did not want to do a full mold inspection to find the source though. I preformed the air test and the result showed a very high amount of contamination. 285 on a scale to 300.

So If you are smelling a musty smell that is typically the VOC (volitle organic compounds) given of by mold spores and the air quality should be tested and the source found and remediated.
